Giving to St Peter's

Part of the Community for over 900 years, St Peters is the very visible ‘heart’ of Kinver, and touches the lives of many in the village at different stages in life’s journey. People often think the church is wealthy, or supported by the State, but in fact this is not so and like many old Churches, St Peter’s has its own serious financial challenges, with expenses of around £100,000 per year and insufficient income to meet those expenses.

A large proportion of the church’s expenditure relates to what is known as the parish share payable to Lichfield Diocese. This contributes to modest clergy salaries, pensions and housing costs as well as to training, support and advice from the Diocese.

Although the congregation make regular financial contributions, their giving cannot cover all the expenses of the church, including the maintenance of the grade 1 listed building, the graveyard and other major capital projects.

This means St Peter’s is entirely dependent on the generosity of residents and businesses in the village and beyond, who support fund-raising initiatives and events or provide other much needed financial support.

If you would like to be a Friend to St Peter’s and help to keep the church going for this generation as well as for future generations, we would welcome your generosity, either as a one off gift or as a regular contributor. To do so please contact our Treasurer.

You can also support St Peter's by joining the Friends of St Peter's (affectionately known as FOSPERS), or our Hundred Club.

Your generosity to St Peter’s is deeply appreciated.
